Breast Cancer Awareness by Susan G. Komen Foundation "PINK SCARVES" Charity Event
Each year, we have wanted to help find a cure for women with this awful disease. One of our efforts are to create as many "PINK" scarves that can be handed out through the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Last year, we were able to donate almost 100 scarves. With the outpouring support for our other charity events, we are striving for more this year....200 by October. These can be in anything "PINK", whether
it is in all novelty yarns or acrylic, basically anything goes as long as it has "PINK" in it. We will be displaying these scarves in our store just like the sweaters. Won't you help us make our goal?

Orphan Foundation of America "RED SCARVES" Charity Event
Last year, Interweave Knits, TNNA and Lily Chin assisted with the "RED SCARVES" charity event for Orphaned Children. This year, we want to help with this great cause. For every orphaned child, we want to give them a piece of our love and support by giving them a knitted or crochet or even quilted "RED" scarf this holiday season. We would appreciate any donations you could offer. As stated above, we will be displaying the finished ones in the store once the sweaters are taken down. These must be submitted to
Yarn Lady by no later than October 10th as we have to make sure they arrive before the 15th deadline.

Chemo Hats by "Knots-of-Love"
"Knots-of-Love was born out of a desire to brighten the lives of people in need in a loving and caring way" by Christine Shively who is the Founder and Creator. Christine was inspired to make chemo hats for those who have been to the cancer ward in hospitals and needed to put to good use of her crochet skills taught to her by her grandmother and mother when she was six. With a growing demand, Christine's and Knots-of-Love goal are to "continue to give away free Knots-of-Love Chemo Caps to ladies who are undergoing chemo and have no hair. Would you like to help with such a wonderful cause? There are a few criteria's for the hats. They must be new, handmade (with love), washable, NO WOOL or WOOL BLENDS, soft yarn (cottons, acrylics, natural fibers) and welcomed in any size. Bring your chemo hats into Yarn Lady and we will display them in the store. Yarn Lady would like to make a big dent in their needs. We will be donating the hats on a monthly basis.

Knit Together by Debbie Macomber $22.99
Debbie Macomber calls Knit Together the project of her heart. Whenever she speaks, her theme is simple: don't be afraid to dream. God created us for a reason, and when we come to recognize our deepest longing, we can discover His plan for our lives. Full of encouragement and divine
empowerment for women, the book centers around the Bible's assurance that God knits each one
of us together in our mother's womb. Debbie deftly weaves her own story throughout the book, using
the knitting theme of her most recent bestsellers to create metaphors that explore God's handiwork
in creating us for a purpose.

as soon as you bind off."

These are innovative, easy-to-follow knit and crochet patterns. The patterns range in sizes (up

On a personal note:

Do you multitask? I sure do! I always have to be doing something while I'm doing something. I remember years ago when I was working for a grocery store, someone was showing me how to use the baler where you put the cardboard for recycling and where you had to put wire straps around the big bale before you dropped it out onto a pallet. So I stood there watching and the manager walked by and said: "While you're watching, you could be breaking down this cardboard!" Huh???

Dutch watches a lot of TV so to be with him I wind up watching as well but hardly ever without knitting or crocheting! I was raised to not ever have idle hands. Yesterday Dutch had to have some test done so I had a two hour wait in the hospital waiting room. I came equipped with my carry on luggage on wheels with my bible, a book on prayer, the purse I am working on for my upcoming workshop, my bible study workbook and my I-pod. The nurses wondered why I had to have all this stuff with me! (Well I had two whole hours to pass and I couldn't very well sit there and do nothing!) So I sat there wondering what I should do first and decided to work on my bible study. There was so much distraction and I just couldn't concentrate so I got out the I-pod and treated myself to Beethoven while I worked on my study and then I actually got something done. I felt so productive!

I always want to check scripture for guidance. I wondered if the word multitask is in there? Maybe ambitious, or good worry-er, or pack-as-much-in-your-day-as-possible can be found. And then I remembered what it does say......

Psalm 46:10
10 "Be still, and know that I am God;

Luke 12
22Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[b]? 26Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? 27"Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! 29And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
