Breast Cancer Awareness by Susan G. Komen Foundation "PINK SCARVES" Charity Event
Each year, we have wanted to help find a cure for women with this awful disease. One of our efforts are to create as many "PINK" scarves that can be handed out through the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Last year, we were able to donate almost 100 scarves. With the outpouring support for our other charity events, we are striving for more this year....200 by October. These can be in anything "PINK", whether it is in all novelty yarns or acrylic, basically anything goes as long as it has "PINK" in it. We will be displaying these scarves in our store just like the sweaters. Won't you help us make our goal?

Orphan Children "RED SCARVES" Charity Event
Last year, TNNA assisted with the "RED SCARVES" charity event for Orphaned Children. This year, we want to help with this great cause. For every orphaned child, we want to give them a piece of our love and support by giving them a knitted or crochet or even quilted "RED" scarf this holiday season. We would appreciate any donations you could offer. As stated above, we will be displaying the finished ones in the store once the sweaters are taken down.

Sock Club Monthly Colors Available
Did you know that we are currently carrying a sock yarn which the colors for each month are only available for that month? For instance, we currently have a few skeins left for the August Club. Once they are gone, they will not be available ever again. The September Club should be arriving shortly. There will be six colors available for September. These will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. Also, this yarn has a little surprise in the middle of it.....it has a spool of reinforcement thread that is dyed to match for those heals and toes. One skein makes a beautiful pair of socks. Don't be left behind....our sock yarn goes quickly.

DON'T FORGET

Holding Hands for Charity Baby Sweater Charity deadline is fast approaching. We have almost gone around the store and are eager to receive each and every one from all of you who have participated. The last day to donate a sweater and to be eligible for the $100 Yarn Lady gift certificate is September 15th. The drawing will be held at Yarn Lady on September 17th . The winner will be notified and awarded their prize. Thank you again for participating and helping some child in need this winter. GOOD BYE!

As you know, summer is almost gone and our fall season is fast approaching us (couldn't tell with the weather California is having lately). With that said, we are sad to say that a few of our staff members have left (some for the season and one for good).

Please help us to say good bye to Judy....she has been with us for a few years now and will be greatly missed. Judy has decided to purchase another yarn business and is moving to Mississippi. We wish her well and much success.

Two of our summertime helpers have left us as they are heading back to their perspective colleges to continue their education... Please help us wish Erin and Meredith well and may they learn lots this coming year in school. Keep studying! Hopefully we will see them again next summer (possibly this winter during the holiday season).

  
Saving the Memories

 

HELP!! I'm a picture freak!! (Well, Nancy is too!)
Whenever we have a special event at our store, Na
ncy and I go crazy with our cameras because we want to save the memories. Of course we always wonder why we do this and if anyone even wants to see it...

So here I am, asking YOU if you want to see pictures of our special events. Just in case you do, I have made a special page for you to see the latest ones we took. From Elvis' Sock Yarn Tasting to Judy's Good-bye to Karin's Artfelt workshop and who knows what else. Please remember that some of the stories are told on our blog. Have fun!


 

 

 

 

 

 

On a personal note:

So Dutch and I have been told (repeatedly) by our doctors that we must loose 50 pounds. Well you know how easy THAT will be!! So it got me thinking: how did we gain all that weight to begin with? Did a 50lb sack of potatoes land on us all of a sudden? Did we just wake up with it one day? I remember years back I had a friend who went crazy when she gained 5 pounds and I used to think: FIVE pounds?? What is she making such a fuss over? So there it is. We only had to gain 5 pounds 10 times to be where we are. Or 2 pounds 25 times over the course of 20 years. YIKES!! Dutch has some health issues that are caused by being overweight so we have an added incentive to make changes.

I can't stand to watch certain shows on TV. The popular CSI shows that show things in gory detail to keep us interested and excited, or off color comedy shows- oh I could go on and on. When did we decide it was OK to fill our minds with words and images that 20 years ago would not have been acceptable? I don't know about you, but I dream about that stuff. I don't want my mind filled with it! So did a 50 pound sack of TV junk all of a sudden drop on us or did it sneak up on us a little at a time?

Perhaps you've heard the story of the boiling frog...
