greatly appreciated.
Come into the store
to see how many are already done.
There are a lot of creative ones made
with love.

Thank you for your support.

Keep up the
good work.

Breast Cancer Awareness by Susan G. Komen Foundation "PINK SCARVES" Charity Event
Each year, we have wanted to help find a cure for women with this awful disease. One of our efforts are to create as many "PINK" scarves that can be handed out through the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Last year, we were able to donate almost 100 scarves. With the outpouring support for our other charity events, we are striving for more this year....200 by mid October. These can be in anything "PINK", whether it is in all novelty yarns or acrylic, basically anything goes as long as it has "PINK" in it. We will be displaying these scarves in our store just like the sweaters. Won't you help us make our goal? Due October 15th.

Orphan Foundation of America "RED SCARVES" Charity Event
Last year, Interweave Knits, TNNA and Lily Chin assisted with the "RED SCARVES" charity event for Orphaned Children. This year, we want to help with this great cause. For every orphaned child, we want to give them a piece of our love and support by giving them a knitted or crochet or even quilted "RED" scarf this holiday season. We would appreciate any donations you could offer. As stated above, we will be displaying the finished ones in the store once the sweaters are taken down. These must be submitted to Yarn Lady by no later than October 10th as we have to make sure they arrive before the 15th deadline.

Chemo Hats by "Knots-of-Love"
"Knots-of-Love was born out of a desire to brighten the lives of people in need in a loving and caring way" by Christine Shively who is the Founder and Creator. Christine was inspired to make chemo hats for those who have been to the cancer ward in hospitals and needed to put to good use of her crochet skills taught to her by her grandmother and mother when she was six. With a growing demand, Christine's and Knots-of-Love goal are to "continue to give away free Knots-of-Love Chemo Caps to ladies who are undergoing chemo and have no hair. Would you like to help with such a wonderful cause? There are a few criteria's for the hats. They must be new, handmade (with love), washable, NO WOOL or WOOL BLENDS, soft yarn (cottons, acrylics, natural fibers) and welcomed in any size. Bring your chemo hats into Yarn Lady and we will display them in the store. Yarn Lady would like to make a big dent in their needs. We will be donating the hats on a monthly basis.

PAST EVENTS

The winner of the first "Holding Hands Charity Event" at Yarn Lady is Jeanette Mayer of Irvine. Jeanette has just won a $100 Yarn Lady gift certificate. Congratulations!

Perhaps I have one foot stuck in the past but I love to take and show pictures!

At Yarn Lady we always strive to bring you as many of the newest yarns, books and gadgets as we can to inspire you to try new things and techniques. We offer classes and workshops to better prepare you to be creative. Creativity, working with your hands and dreaming of things that could be and just plain old good fellowship make any day brighter irregarldless of the pressures that might come to bear on our lives. We have seen and are still in awe of the outpouring of your love as you knit and crochet for charity. It truly has been inspiring. I was just forwarded a letter that Kathy from Stitches From The Heart received from a mother:

I just wanted to say thank you to your organization and especially Betty Kellar from Seloh, Washington. My daughter was born Sept 12, 2007 at only 33 weeks and spent 15 days in the NICU. She was born quite unexpectedly and the first time I got to see her in the NICU she was covered in a beautiful pink knitted blanket and wearing a matching pink hat. I was so stressed out realizing the potential health problems we were facing and knew that she would be hooked up to monitors, wires, and IV tubes. But to see her wearing that hat amongst all the medical equipment made her seem so beautiful. To know that someone put their heart into these tiny little hats knowing that somewhere a tiny baby would be helped just made me cry with appreciation and gratitude. I will cherish these tiny creations and remember Betty every time I see them. Thank You, Jennifer Grant

So you can surely see how your gifts bless someone who really could use a blessing! Thank you so much for your generosity.

I've put together a page where you can go and see pictures from different events we have had in the past. There were many more, but I just wanted to save some. We've had a sewing guild come and learn how novelty yarns can be incorporated into sewing and quilting, we've had an executive from a magazine treat her favorite clients to knitting lessons and a meal (which they themselves catered), we've had groups of scouts and groups of home schooled kids come in and get special tours and lessons about all things yarn, some of the biggest names in design have been at our store to teach classes: Brandon Mabley and Kaffee Fasset, Barry Klein, Laura Bryant, Sally Melville, Chris Bylsma, Judy Pascal, Fayla Reiss, Colleen Davis, Susan Lazear, Melissa Leapman, Jane Slicer Smith, and on and on (I'm sure I'm leaving out some important people).

We schedule Yarn Tastings where you can "sample" the new yarns from a specific yarn company for free! All you have to do is let us know you're coming and show up! These events often turn into Fashion Shows since the representative from the yarn company is sure to bring model garments. At these events we appreciate it when we hear from you which yarns you love, so we can make our purchases accordingly.
Our newest most popular events have been Jan's Pajama Parties. If you were there you know what I'm talking about.

Well you can see that I could go on and on. All this to say that we want our store to be a place where YOU want to come and participate! I haven't even mention all of our regular classes and workshops! Please make it a point to read our events calendar to make sure that you don't miss out! We'll see you here!

On a personal note:

Mirror, mirror on the wall....

We're all familiar with THAT story. I learned a different version of it recently.

They tell me that I am real good at finding things that are amiss in other people and I've even been told that I have that "German LOOK". I must have inherited that from my mother. She always told us that she raised us with her eyes... Now from MY perspective, this is as it should be.

The other day someone held up the mirror to my face so I could see how I looked to the world. WOW!! You mean THAT"S what YOU see?? God forgive me!

I am so very blessed to have friends who care enough to hold up the mirror for me so I can see the log in my own eyes.

Matthew 7:3-4
3"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?
