Books: (Check out our updated book section here!)
100 Purses to Knit and Crochet by Jean Leinhauser & Rita Weiss $24.95

Getting Started Crochet by Judith L. Shwartz $16.95
"Getting Started Crochet was designed for the total beginner. The author comfortably demystifies the technique, the jargon, and the process, easily bringing novices "into the loop." It's all spelled out in pictures and text: You'll begin with a trip to the yarn store for all the necessary tools and to learn how to shop for yarn and equipment. Types and weights of yarn will become comprehensible and you'll learn about gauge and its importance in simple language. Clear diagrams will address how to hold the hook and yarn and how to form stitches. Next come the basic stitches, one at a time, and your first project . . .
a simple scarf. After you master the stitches, you'll tackle shaping techniques and make an evening bag,
a simple top, and some fun and funky toys! Working in rounds easily leads to working motifs and more intriguing projects like the Color Study Lap Blanket. Finish up with edging that sweetens up a shrug. Resource list, index, and charts complete the picture. "

Basic Tank Top XXSmall to Plus Size 6x by Vermont Fiber Designs $5.60
"Some women live in Paris, in London, in New York. These women seem effortlessly chic and sophisticated. The rest of us aspire to look like we live in Paris, London, or New York, tirelessly trawling through local stores...but seldom finding those cool pieces. Here’s the book that will let all of those wistful urban-sophisticate dreamers have the look they long for. Downtown DIY Knitting speaks directly to young, design-savvy crafters with fourteen easy-to-do patterns inspired by boutique fashion. Information on yarn and tools, plus step-by-steps for basic stitches and techniques, encourages every hipster to pick up those needles and get that big-city look with or without the big city. "

On a personal note:

Our granddaughter, Caitlyn, just finished a week of Vacation Bible School at our church. Besides teaching the kids more about God and their relationship with Him, they just have a really good time doing all sorts of fun things. A big part of each day is when they get to go into our "Sanctuary" and sing and dance along with the worship leaders on stage. Now Caitlyn LOVES the stage! She memorizes every song and every hand motion that goes with it in a flash. This year, some kids were elected to go on stage and hold up signs at the appropriate times.

When I picked her up that night she said: "Nana, I GOT TO GO ON STAGE!!!!!! I went to one of the leaders and asked her if they picked kids (at random) or how do they get to go on stage?" The leader then invited Caitlyn to be on stage and hold up a sign. Her dream come true!
" Nana!! And all because I asked the question!!!
I thought if they say no, then I will just stand with the other kids. No big deal.
It was all because of a QUESTION!!"

7"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8
