SPECIAL EVENTS

ArtFelt by Skacel
Yarn Lady is proud to present a FREE workshop to allow YOU to experience "ArtFelt" by Skacel.
Karin Skacel herself will be at our store from 11am - 2pm with all of her supplies to show you how you can make some wonderful pieces of art using wool roving, a felting needle and your talent! No need to sign up,
just SHOW up and bring a couple of friends. It's so easy, anyone can do it! We saw the demonstration at STITCHES Midwest and Karin allowed me to take these pictures so you would better understand what she will be doing. This is a one-time event so don't miss out. Materials for the demonstration are supplied and
you will be able to purchase extra roving for use later. I know you will love it so much that you will want to have the materials on hand to make all sorts of things- from pillows to scarves to pictures to purses.
I wish you could have seen how popular Skacel's booth was, filled with ladies eager to learn this wonderful technique. What is new under the sun? To view samples, click here.

Elvis is coming to town! Yarn Tasting by Skacel
Since so many people have asked who is Elvis and what is this event all about, we thought we should give you a little insight as to why we are doing this special event. Over a year ago, both Niqua and Cherie ran into Elvis at a TNNA event. They thought it would be fun to have Elvis come to the store. After numerous attempts to schedule him, Elvis finally had time in his schedule to come out for a visit. Since Elvis works at Skacel, we thought it would best be fitting to do a Skacel Yarn Tasting. Furthermore, since most of the yarns that we carry from Skacel are for socks, we decided to make it a Sock Yarn Tasting. There will be more yarns to try that are not just for socks, so please remember to bring a range of needles to knit or crochet with. This is going to be a fun event that you won't want to miss out on. In fact, we are attempting to make this one of the biggest events ever held here at our store by offering this event FREE of charge. Make sure you sign up for this once in a lifetime event.

On a personal note:

We just returned from a 3000 mile trip driving across the country, hauling yarn to participate at the famous STITCHES knitting convention. We have made this trip many times before over the years. Each time, it seems, we pack more and more supplies into our van and trailer. Since Dutch was not feeling his best, struggling with sciatic nerve problems, I did all of the driving. We decided to take the shortest route which led us over the mountains past Denver and on to Chicago. We were confident that our van had enough power to pull the trailer up those steep mountains. At one time we even found ourselves above the tree line! It was great! What wasn't so great is that the trailer proved to be more of a load than we thought and I found myself having to shift into FIRST gear a couple of times. I knew for sure that we were going to go backwards! I didn't dare stop because I knew we could never get going again.

When we decided to stop for the night just before Denver, the offramp went downhill. Now I have separate electric brakes for the trailer and stopping has never been a problem. But this time the van kept rolling even after I applied the brakes and I wondered if it was going to stop behind the car that was in front of us. Yikes!! Talk about bloodpressure! The electric brakes for the trailer come with an emergency trip and I knew that. What I couldn't remember in my excitement was where it was!! We did stop before we ran into that car, but I learned that I need to be prepared BEFORE the need arises.

2 Timothy 4:2 (New International Version) 2Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.

1 Peter 1:13 (New International Version) 13Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.
