KISS

My daughter always tells me: "Keep the newsletter SHORT! No one will read it if you write too much!!"
But you know, there is so much to tell. So please allow me a few extra lines, grab a cup of tea and sit a spell and let me to chat with you.

I'll be talking about charity knitting, workshops, introducing a new section on our teachers, pointing you to a movie clip about our bag sale. We'll talk about new felted purse patterns and wonderful embellishments and new purse handles. I'll point you to our special SALE section, and share with you a special "Story of Faith".

In the end I'll talk to you a bit of what's happening in Dutch's and my lives, so please read on. Don't forget to look for your garbled e-mail address in between the lines. If you find it, you may just be our winner this time! Enjoy!

Yarn Lady is proud to be a part of charity charity knitting - Holding Hands Charity Event

Doesn't it make you feel good to be doing something for others? Well we want to support your efforts and we've created an event called Holding Hands Charity Event. Here's the "scoop":

The Yarn Lady is gathering baby sweaters to give to charity! The goal is to gather as many sweaters as possible. We will hang them around the store, holding hands, making a chain of adorable baby sweaters before they go on to their final destination. Everytime you bring in a finished sweater, we will enter you into a drawing for a $100 gift certificate to the Yarn Lady. (Bring in 5 sweaters = you will be entered 5 times into the drawing.)

Please help us warm up all of the babies that need a little extra warmth and love. Bring in all your sweaters by September 15, 2007. The drawing will be held on September 17, 2007 at Yarn Lady. Please click on the above link for information about patterns. Enjoy and Thank YOU for participating in such a wonderful event.

You now know about our new "Hall of Fame" clips! Here is another new feature:
An up close look at one of our teachers!

This week's Hall of Famer

Putting together the pieces of her latest project.
Can you guess who it is?

The first teacher I would like you to meet is Susanne Jane

Although Susanne might be a new face to you, she certainly is not new to Yarn Lady.
Would you believe that "wayyyyyyyyyyyy back when" Susanne was one of our very first teachers? She knows knitting and has completed the Master Knitting Program by the Knitting Guild.

One of my first memories of Susanne was of her walking around the table with her hands on her back because she firmly believes that YOU the student has to learn and it doesn't help if she does it for you. mjf-rsy-he@d-lext-eme.com .. I also remember her saying: "If you hate making a swatch, you are REALLY going to hate making the sweater!" (Very big grin)

Susanne is planning several workshops and is currently teaching a variety of stitches in squares which can me made into afghans, or........... This is your chance to give a number of different stitches a try.

Please
Contact Susanne for more information

On a personal note:

First of all I would like to share with you a Story of Faith. I found out about this because Melynna Hewitt sent me an email about her story. It is about children with cancer and you might know from reading my book, how close that is to my heart. Read her story and pray for her effort and the children she is trying to help.

Recently I had in my mind that I wanted to teach knitting at Children's Hospital here locally and was already in touch with folks at the hospital. We all think that this would be such a great thing for some children, but also for their parents as they spend countless hours at their children's bedsides. If you want to get involved in that, please let me know and I'll put you in touch.

As for me, I begged off for now so I can devote my time to my husband and his medical needs. He has just been diagnosed with cronic active Hepatitis C and I need to keep my calendar open so I can assist him through any treatments that may lie ahead. We just celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary a couple of weeks ago and I plan to take good care of him so, God willing, we have many more. Please keep us in your prayers as we walk down this new road.

In the meantime-Isn't God so good??- without knowing this, plans were already under way for our daughter Niqua and our busines manager Cherie to begin running the business with the help of our wonderful staff and teachers. They continue to make Yarn Lady a place of refuge and inspiration and blessing. We hope to see you there soon and often!

Psalm 91

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." 3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. 5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. 8 You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. 9 If you make the Most High your dwelling— even the LORD, who is my refuge- 10 then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. 14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. 15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation."
